Mrs. Vazquez-Rowland co-founded A Safe Haven Foundation in 1994. Through its holistic approach, the foundation provides evidence-based programs of supportive housing, addiction treatment, recovery management, education, and life skills that lead directly to employment and permanent housing. It is a leading social enterprise that empowers families and individuals experiencing homelessness and crisis to achieve sustainable self-sufficiency.<\/p>\n
Mrs. Vazquez-Rowland was honored by Chicago Magazine as the \u201cChicagoan of the Year.\u201d She is also the recipient of the National Environmental Hall of Fame\u2019s \u201cSocial Sustainability Award.\u201d She has made frequent appearances as a keynote speaker at major events and as a panelist at HBO\u2019s documentary presentation of \u201cAddiction.\u201d She has worked with government legislators to benefit the foundation such as Illinois Rep.
